Jillian's Mom puts Ed in the hot seat

BACHELORETTE FINAL PREVIEW

Via: http://www.etonline.com/news/2009/07/76816/

Ed is put to the test by Jillian Harris's mom Peggy on the two-hour season finale of "The Bachelorette" tonight.

Peggy teases him, saying, "I am not going to do what I did to Jason [Mesnick]. I had 76 questions for him; I only have 66 for you."

Then she begins grilling him: "Do you want to have children? How do you see your relationship 30 or 40 years from now? What is the glue between Jillian and yourself that will make this a long-lasting relationship?"

Ed manages to get through the inquisition, then heads outside where he relaxes and dances the hula with Jillian, her dad, Glenn, and her cousin.

One week before Jillian Harris has to land her decision on who she would want to marry, "" airs a special episode. Bringing back the guys whom Jillian has dumped in the previous weeks, the episode is called "Men Tell All" and it shows the guys' side of story.

As many as 13 guys, including foot fetish Tanner P., punch bag Juan and least favorite contestant Dave got the call back to appear in the episode. Missing from the line-up were Reid, who was eliminated last week, and Wes whom the producers didn't invite back due to a specific reason.

"Wes did originally decline coming on the show. At the eleventh hour he had a change of heart and wanted to be on the show," host Chris Harrison explained, adding "Wes had called several of the guys to make sure they would back him up if he came back and only then did he call and ask to be back on the show. ...He doesn't matter in the grand scheme of Jillian's life so there's no reason to put up with any more of his Texas sayings and shenanigans."

Still, Wes' presence was felt when the guys discussed about Jake's decision to spill that Wes had a girlfriend. The other 12 guys criticized him for throwing Wes under the bus and for the fact that he "pulled a Mesnick", which is crying on the show in reference to the latest Bachelor, Jason Mesnick. However, Jake received support from the female-packed audience who cheered on him.

Will nerdy Ed get the girl?

'THE BACHELORETTE' | Few clues to finale

So what did we learn from last night's "The Bachelors Tell All" episode?

1. Chicago's Ed Swiderski, who's in the final two, is a good time. After footage of him, um, interpretive dancing in a hotel hallway, Jillian Harris declared, "Ed is the happiest, funniest drunk that I've ever met in my life." Later she gushed, "I love that Ed's a little bit of a nerd."

2. In the previews for next week's "emotional" conclusion, Reid was shown fondling a gold band. Host Chris Harrison teased, "Reid wasn't able to make it tonight due to a prior engagement."

3. Last season's sensitive-but-indecisive bachelor Jason Mesnick has inspired a new expression. "Pulling a Mesnick" is defined as "a grown man who leans over a hotel railing and cries."

Chris Harrison fails to talk about Reid...

Chris Harrison blogs 'The Bachelorette': episode 10

by Chris Harrison, http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/07/chris-harrison-blogs-the-bachelorette-episode-10.html?xid=rss-feed-todayslatest-%27Bachelorette%27+host+blogs+ep+10

Chris-Harrison-ext_l You'll have to bear with me. As some of my Twitter friends already know, I attempted to type this week's blog on my iPhone while attending an AYSO coaches meeting. There's two hours of my life I'll never get back. But at least I now know not to yell at kids, leave trash, or bring dogs on school property. Contrary to some comments, I still read most if not all of your comments. Some have mentioned that I've gotten away from talking about behind-the-scenes stuff. I'll try to do better about that. I've also noticed a lot of anger in the air. Look, I realize these are tough economic times. I also realize our government is attempting to spend more money than our children's children's children will ever be able to pay back but let's remember what a very famous man once said: "All you need is love." And that's what this show is all about. Take away the guys crying on banisters, oil rubdowns (Wow, I felt a little uncomfortable watching that one myself), rumors and lies...this show comes down to one simple word: LOVE. You can all speculate and talk about Jillian's choices and character but bottom line is next Monday night you will all see firsthand if she found what she was so desperately looking for. I also read that many of you are up in arms over who we have or haven't chosen as our next Bachelor. Relax people, I can tell you with one hundred percent certainty that we have not picked our next bachelor. In fact, I'd love to continue to hear your comments on who you would like to see in that role and why. Oh, Amy, sorry that this new blog picture isn't much better. I have to agree, it looks like I'm wearing my dad's suit. Still not sure how those pics get chosen to be on the blog. I'm going to ask my friend Gilles Marini if he'll let me use one of his shirtless photos from now on.

Let's talk about this week's special, "Men Tell All." I will be honest, I didn't expect a whole lot from these guys. First of all, guys rarely hold grudges for very long, and this show is shot eight weeks after the taping has concluded. Secondly, guys are like goldfish. Sure we get mad but two seconds later we're distracted and we forget and move on. This wasn't the case with this group of guys. This show got out of hand in a hurry. I mean, come on. Did anybody ever expect Jake to throw out an "F" bomb? Because the guys were so good, we had to edit the show a bit more than we expected. We planned on showing some other fluff stuff, like a cute piece about former bachelors and bachelorettes who got together for a "reunion" in Vegas. The taping started with about 20 minutes of the guys ganging up on Jake. I'll admit I do understand where the guys are coming from here but what I don't get is how worked up they get about it. Who cares if he comes off as "Mr. Perfect." I don't recall asking any of them to marry him.

A woman who knows the world of The Bachelorette well, Deanna Pappas recently appeared on EXTRA TV as a co-host.

While on set, Deanna predicted Jillian Harris will ultimately choose to be with Ed Swiderski, the Chicagoan who left the show for his job only to return later and become part of the final four. On Monday night's episode 9, Ed confessed to Jillian in an interview that he loved her. This all came after a bit of concern on Jillian's part that the two just didn't have the chemistry to move forward in their relationship.

WES AND THE MEN TELL ALL

Austin reality star fights to clear name

Hayden denies that he had a girlfriend at the time he appeared on 'The Bachelorette.'

When ABC airs the "Men Tell All" episode for "The Bachelorette" tonight, one of its more notorious contestants will be conspicuously missing: Austinite Wes Hayden.

Hayden was portrayed as a ruthless player who wasn't on the show to find love, but instead had a secret girlfriend and a larger motive to promote his singing career.

Now Hayden says he's on a mission to clear his name. He is denying that he had a girlfriend while taping the show, and he says he's a victim of creative editing.

"I signed a contract with them, so I knew they could portray my character any way they saw fit," Hayden said. "But they have totally slandered me and taken my words and put them out of context. They cut, they paste, they left vital sentences out."

Hayden's public fight is another in a series of behind-the-scenes controversies that have recently plagued the 7-year-old "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" series, which each season feature dozens of contestants fighting to win the heart of one designated man or woman. The shows have resulted in one marriage (in 2003) in a combined 17 past seasons — 13 for the "Bachelor," and four for the "Bachelorette."

Now, some claim the show has gone too far in its portrayal of unfolding romances, with producers playing a heavy hand to inject drama.
