'Bachelorette' picks sensitive Ed

Sensitive technology consultant Ed Swiderski wins the heart of Jillian Harris, the first-ever Canadian star of "The Bachelorette."

It's the most logical ending in Bachelorette history.

Quirky, cute Canadian girl Jillian Harris trusted her gut and accepted Michigan technology consultant Ed Swiderski's proposal on Monday night -- leaving behind looks-good-on-paper guys Kiptyn Locke and Reid Rosenthal (who made a not-so-shocking return).

There was no denying the passion between Peace River, Alta., native Jillian, 30, and hunky dork Ed, 29 -- who returned to the show to beg for her forgiveness after leaving to handle a work emergency.

After working out a few of their relationship -- and bedroom -- kinks on Monday's two-hour The Bachelorette finale on City and ABC, Jill and Ed sealed the deal with a perfect proposal set against a stunning Hawaii backdrop.

It all sounds too good to be true -- but Jill, a Vancouver restaurant designer, had to break a couple hearts first. Here's how it all went down:

:07: It's meet-the-parents time for Ed, and he breaks the ice by telling them: "I was married to my job." Way to start it off, buddy. Their faces drop, but Ed saves himself from getting kicked in the pants by answering all 66 of mom Peggy's questions correctly and sucking up to dad Glen -- even getting permission to ask for Jillian's hand (as long as the divorce with his job has been finalized, I presume).

:18: Kiptyn's turn, and I really don't think he can do better with Jill's folks than Ed did. OK, so Mom thinks he's the greatest thing (after all, he is a handsome Californian business developer). Dad just wants to know if he's really in love with Jillian. "I'm getting there," Kiptyn, 31, stutters. What the heck does that mean? Geez, it's always the really good-looking ones who can't give you a straight answer.
