Chris writes "Before we get into this week’s Bachelorette, I want to throw out a few final thoughts on Jake and Vienna. I don’t want to recap the entire ordeal, as I feel the interview really spoke for itself. I’m satisfied that you got to see and hear everything. Now that you have seen and heard for yourselves how this interview really went, you realize most if not all the tabloid reports that came out last week were just a little more than off the mark. Obviously there never was any threat of physical violence at any point during this interview. Let me be very clear with you that I would never tolerate any violence on this show — much less violence toward a woman. The bizarre atmosphere that surrounds this show now really astounds me.
Many of you wrote in, long before you had ever seen a frame of this interview, and complained that it was slanted in favor of Jake. Now that it has aired, I’d be interested to hear if you still feel that way. From my perspective, the interview was very fair to both parties and wasn’t very flattering for anybody involved. You have to understand that I come into this with a little different perspective. I know Jake and Vienna, and however hard it is for some folks to believe, these two had strong feelings for each other when we left St. Lucia. My true hope in conducting this interview, however naïve it seems now, was not to solve or fix this relationship, but to find a bit of closure and stop the nasty back-and-forth that will only flame the tabloid stories and crazy Internet reports. Obviously, that’s not what happened, and I apologize to Jake and Vienna for that. Maybe it was just too soon to have that intimate a conversation. It is my sincere hope that Vienna and Jake will find it in their hearts to bury the hatchet and move on peacefully with their lives, wherever that may take them...."

Your crack about "we don't care about the dog" was insensitive and rude. Yes....we DO care about the dog and you should have too. What a crude thing to say to Vienna. If you had said that to me, I think I would have had to shine a light on such a uncaring comment. Edited or not, Vienna let it go - which shows me that she has taken a lot of emotional hurt (from Jake The Jerk) and let it go until she couldn't take it anymore. Chris, take this mistake and learn from it and do better next time.
Chris, personally I believe that you threw J. really easy questions and questions that he could answer to make V. look bad. I was disappointed in you. Previously I have felt that you were fair in interviews but last night left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I believe that you let J. off easy..Speaking of J., he came across to me as being very controlling and manipulative with a good dose of anger mixed in.
I tend to believe Vienna's side of things(although I was never a fan of hers)...she appeared genuine. She was hurting & I really think she went into that relationship hoping to get married & have a normal life with her "pilot" husband.
Jakes a fake!
He is obviously in this for exposure as he wants to be an actor.
I believe Vienna when she said ...'had she not spoken to the tabloids first ...he WOULD have.
His actions show he's a control freak. You just have to look at Vienna's reaction when at the end of the show, he "lost it" & yelled at her & put her down. She actually shrunk down into her seat.
That is a clear sign of someone "losing their self esteem".
Good for you Vienna...you dumped the creap!
Also, when you look at Jake when he was on Dancing With the Stars...it looked like his dance partner wasn't always happy to be 'near him'.
Body actions tell a lot...I don't think she even liked him
Yes, I also believe more Vienna. I think Jake was and is putting on a good show which does not surprise me knowing that he is pursuing television/big sreen carrier. I truly believe that Jake had everything planned the moment he went on bachelorette. I think he would have done the same thing with Jillian (previous bachelorette where Jake actually started his "fake" carrier. I have to admitt that for a long time he had lots of people (specially women) fulled as everyone thought (including me) what a nice and jenuine guy he was. But I started having mixed feelings about him since the "Dancing with the stars" show. There was just something about him, some wrong vibe that did not add up.
This break up with Vienna just nailed it for me.
I think Tenley should be actually gratefull that she did not end up with him.
I truly believe that his family also knew his real intentions and liked Tenley so they told him not to pick her because she was a nice person and did no desrve to be hurt again. On the other hand, Jakes's cold and vein mother did not like Vienna to begin with and I believe that Jake picked her because of it thinking that she did not have real feelings and was in the show just for the fame and to be on TV. Well, Jake needs to know that all women, no matter what kind of the face they put on to protect themselves, deep down every women has real feelings and regardless of Vienna's previous reputation, I truly believe that she came into it wanting to make a positive change in her life but unfortunatelly it did not work out for her. I do hope that she gets it together and proves us all wrong and continues to lead a respectful life.
jake is a wierdo....I really did not like Vienna until I watch the interview last night. Her biggest fault was letting someone older than her get the best of her. She deserves a rose for standing up to him. Also, the $$$ from the tabloids, sounds like he completely took control of her life and the money too.
Chris...of course it was slanted in favor of Jake. Just the fact that you and Jake initially spoke alone (eventhough it was very brief) and you didn't do the same with Vienna made it look like you and ABC are biased. Maybe you also taped a segment with Vienna alone that didn't air...but the viewers wouldn't know this. So just that editing alone caused you to seem biased. There is also something that I can't put my finger on but you did "seem" biased toward Jake...as if you are "closer" to Jake, or like him better, or feel he was more wronged in the situation than Vienna. Its probably impossible to be neutral in this case since you've been part of their relationship from the beginning...sort of like being forced to pick a side after the divorce of close friends. In any case, although she has her share of issues, Vienna seemed genuinely hurt and upset this relationship didn't work out, while Jake seemed cold, calculating, and more than a bit scary.
You kept asking her why she was staying in LA and not going home. She has a job now and BTW Jake's home is not LA. He can be the one to move. He was so rude and if I had been sitting there, I would have told him such. You just let him shout at her and belittle her and said nothing. He is so worried about being underminded. He doesn't even know what that means. He should look it up. He wanted a doormat and he knew the other girls wouldn't be that so he chose V. Lucky for her, she isn't a doormat either and now his true colors have come out of the closet. Now the rest of him needs too.
The fairy tale ending definitely does not happen for Vienna because Jake turned into a controlling jerk. There is a reason he is single. Women of the world beware. I think everyone sees him for what his is now. You always wonder who is on the show to further their career but you usually don't suspect the bachelor or bachelorete. Jake will be more hated than Jason when he changed his mind and dumped Melissa. At least Jason went back to his life and found a girl to be by his side. Best of luck to Vienna. I doubt Jake could even land a viagra commercial now, better get your pilots license ready.
Oh my god that was so entertaining and yes Chris u were bias Jakes true self came out 4 all the world 2 c I knew he was just a fame whore from the get go. I watch the show because I think it is pure comedy not because I think it is real and I know u think the same so please oh please keep me laughing like u did last night ..................
Chris... you can't be serious asking if the interview was slanted towards Jake? Guess Fleiss has you owned too, ay?
I absolutely loved the interview last night. My husband and I laughed the whole way through. We were so shocked by Jake. He definitely looked worse between the two of them. Yes she kept interrupting, but it seemed like she was just so upset she couldn't help herself. I believe her when she said she knew he would do it first. He was so cold, I'm sure he would of. She probably didn't shut up because she was afraid it would be her only chance to get her side of the story out. I would like to defend Chris. I just love him and think he is a good person. I do think he was biased towards Jake at the beginning of the interview, but I believe it was naitivity. I think he did like Jake and assumed that Vienna was in the wrong by going to the tabloids. But I don't think he got what he expected from Jake. She definitely looked like the victim. Chris doesn't think Jake is violent, but he definitely has an ugly temper. I also about fell out laughing when someone told me that Jake was going on Dancing with the Stars. At that time, I said "wait, the baechelor tapes for like 3 months, the next show is probably another 3 months, what did he quit his job as a pilot? I thought he loved it so much?" I thought it was hilarious that she brought up the fact that he hadn't flown for a year. What a fake! Jake the Fake! Let the tabloids brand him with that catchy phrase!
Funny you would really have to ask if the interview was fair? Obviously, you were wanting people to think it was. Truth is, you came across siding with Jake and almost sounding accusatory as you asked Vienna her questions. I know for us out here it's hard to really know what goes on behine the scenes, but Jake really let his true self come out. Rather than see his calmness as control, it was more holding in his anger.
I cant believe how slanted your interview was. Do you get to read the questions prior to asking them? If not, food for thought next time. The only thing that interview did for me was like Vienna (that sounds weird to me) and not like Jake. I did not believe one word he said and I believed almost every word Vienna said. Now, with that said...I hope they both go away for ever!
Chris, your interview made you look very foolish last night. You slanted your interview towards Jake and both of you came off looking bad. Jake showed his true colors. He is cold, domineering and thinks everyone is disrespecting him. He accused Chelsie on DWTS of the same thing. The interview was very disappointing.
Am disappointed in you, Chris. Thought you had more class than what you showed in the interview. Jake is an opportunist and an insensitive jerk. Vienna has her own issues but you all used her. I hope she gets alot of money for that one-sided interview that you put her through. Shame on you and ABC. Jake is a poor excuse for a human being.
OMG you guys are idiots! Chris, you did a fair job... Vienna is a hoe bag! She can't shut her mouth trying to "convince" everyone that she is the "victim" she always claims to be... You guys are so mean about Jake, poor guy can't catch a break, I didn't realize he needed to be rambling non stop and break down crying to show that he was hurting... hello, he had just been betrayed by this hoe bag and totally sold out! Who cares if he didn't want to be intimate with her, she's a nasty horse face! Let the man have some integrity, we don't know the whole story so who freaking cares!
I thought the interview was slanted to provide Jake with an easy way out- I thought the comment was rude about "We dont care about the dog." That was just mean. Obviously it was hurtful to Vienna and if it was Jake's dog, I get the feeling that comment would never have been made. My feelings are Jake needs more acting lessons because he could have at least pretended to care that her feelings were hurt. He was disrespectful with his body language and facial expressions. Im disappointed that he got off so easily. Wheres Dr. Phil when you need him? Id have loved to see him conduct that interview because that dog won't hunt Chris!
I think from the beginning they were not meant for one another. Both have issues of wanting to control. Both have issues of wanting the spotlight. Both were selfish. They both did it for the cameras and money. It is difficult enough to find your one true love in real life not alone on a reality show. The people who are there to really find love are left out in the cold as too much drama for the spectators and the real issues gets lost in the process. Too Bad
You clearly have never been around a narcissistic relationship. Yes, both may have wanted the spotlight but Jake is clearly a sociopath/narcissist. You should've been nicer to Vienna. Most relationships like that look perfectly normal to outsiders (eg. when you went out dinner). Shame on you. You should google narcissistic relationships. They are hell on wheels and every time you try to leave one they suck you back in with their charms. I give credit to Vienna for leaving as most people stay for far too long and it gets much worse. They are always perfectly charming in the beginning and to others around them. Most of the time their true colors only come out to their significant other or family members. She is smart. Funny to me, because I didn't think highly of her on the show. He got what he wanted from her and now she is garbage. She is better off and I wish he would've been called out by you and others. This is a disorder! He is so awful. Wish ex girlfriends or family members would come out and prove this as he's always been this way.
My husband and I rewound the "... we don't care about the dog" comment about 4 times -- I haven't laughed that hard in a while! If I was to really comment, I would just be echoing what most everyone else has said... NEVER liked Vienna, but suddenly I find my self sad for her and have "momma's intuition" that she is genuinely hurt. I voted for Jake to be "the Bachelor" and now i have a very different opinion of him; the guy needs counseling. Chris, your interview was almost as neutral as the beginning segment with the ladies on "the View" -- neutral; kinda like France -- neutral; kinda like Fox News. They will both be fine... and you will most likely host a "Where Are They Now?" show that proves it. :)
Chris, I believe you were completely biased and sided with Jake. Overall, I usually see a tendency through the final editing that you side with whomever was the Bachelor/Bachelorette of that season, in this case being Jake. Good for Vienna and getting out of this toxic relationship, Jake will not find happiness until he finds help for his issues. However, I was very disappointed in the interview and your performance. The dog comment was ridiculous, how could you make such an insensitive remark when you could see it was a touchy topic for Vienna. And then to criticize her for going to a tabloid, I felt like it was 2 against 1 in that interview. Jake is a prick and I will never change my mind about that, I haven't liked him since the beginning but I tried watching with an open mind. It's clear he is a fame whore and out to get his 15 minutes of fame extended as long as possible. Vienna did what she felt she had to do and if I were in the same position I would have wanted to have a voice. I hope that you reflect from this interview to improve in the future...
Jake may have been a fame-seeker, but do you really think that Vienna was not? I believe that all she wanted was the gigantic diamond and someone to take her into the limelight ... and she got what she wanted. I think the lying and manipulation was equal. As testified from Vienna's former boyfriends/husband, she was a liar & manipulator then. What makes anyone think she had changed? She was out for herself ... to gain notariety, just as Jake may have been. They both are now rubbing elbows with the "rich & famous", instantly recognizable anywhere and will both profit from the situation. I wouldn't spend any time being concerned or feeling bad for either of them. They are both already displaying big smiles on magazine covers, and why wouldn't they be? They both got what they wanted.
You were biased toward Jakes, Chris. I noticed you both hit it off during the time when he was the bachelor and this likely influenced how you approached the interview toward him and Vienna. You seemed very insensitive toward Vienna, as if you had a bone to pick with her. And about not caring about her dog, how insensitive its that? I would have expected you to approach the interview objectively, but from the start Vienna had a disadvantage given that you gave Jake the opportunity to give 'his" side, and not Vienna. There is two sides to a story Chris; three if you're after the truth.
Personally, i agree with V, I think Jakes is all drama. He was the bachelor that had the car stopped so he could run back to the other girl; he cried like a baby, tattled on his peers; sent home more than one girl during a rose ceremony. Seems the man wanted to make a name for himself and capture the limelight with every move - a ratings booster i'm sure. Even competing on dancing with the stars days after leaving the show was a bit over the top, then snapping at the poor girl in the interview, shows he has some pent up anger which left unchecked could ultimately lead to verbal, emotion and possibly physical abused. You gave Jake a platform and permission to continue his egotistical, maniacal behavior, only with someone else who is not as outspoken as Vienna. I developed a lot of respect for Vienna from watching this interview. Jake needs to go fly a kite
