Ali Fedotowsky's Bachelorette Blog Week 5

Ali Fedotowsky's Bachelorette blog can be found each week on People.com!

Well it may have been cold in Iceland, but it was more than worth it. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Iceland really is a spectacular country and every day I saw something totally different than the day before. I’m usually not a cold-weather kind of girl but it was breathtaking there. And speaking of cold, Chris Harrison, what were you thinking wearing only a sweater?! It was FREEZING outside! I think I had seven layers on. The guys’ poems were great. I was super impressed with Craig‘s poem. He is such a funny guy! Kirk‘s poem was so sweet. Poor Chris N. tried so hard and looked super nervous, but at the end of the day this is about finding love.

Playing around in the sweater shop with Kirk was a blast. I love that I can be silly with him (I learned that his mother calls him Kirky — how cute!). It was actually his idea that we get matching outfits. Pure genius! We looked like such dorks; I loved it! Did you notice we shared the same mitten when we walked into the coffee shop? I felt bad that his hands were cold … and sharing is caring. :)

A cool part of traveling is the cultural experience. Getting to see the men play the Icelandic xylophone and listening to their rhymes was so unique to witness, especially on a date.

I’m really glad that Kirk opened up to me about his sickness. What a strong guy. He has been through a lot over the past few years and I am so grateful that he is here on this journey with me. What you didn’t see is that we actually went dancing after dinner at a little pub. I loved our day experiencing the local culture.

Now, time to see what kind of adventure Iceland has to offer. I’ve always wanted to ride a horse, so this date was really exciting. How funny was it that Chris L. kept falling off the horse? Ha! Thankfully, Ty saved the day! The guide who was with us was really scared for a minute because we rode the horse on top of the cave. The horses were so heavy that we could have fallen through at any minute! Luckily, that didn’t happen.

It is hard to tell when watching the episode but it was so cold outside and my gloves were not warm at all. I love that Chris gave me his. What a sweet guy. Since it was so cold, I am really glad that we got to head to the Blue Lagoon next. In case anyone is wondering, no, I was not wearing my bikini under the snowsuit the whole day. I would have frozen to death!

The 2-on-1 date can be described in one word — awkward. But heck, we got to see the volcano erupt. I am so grateful for the experience. We got so close that we could actually feel the heat coming off the volcano on our faces. It was unreal. One thing that I was disappointed to see while watching this episode is how Justin was acting. He was a different person with me then he was with the guys or in his interviews. Plus, he was awful to Kasey and I felt really bad for him. Kasey is a nice guy with a huge heart. Yes, he can be super cheesy at times, but honestly, I love that he put it all out there. In the end, I had to let him go because I wasn’t feeling the same things he was. The last thing I wanted was for Kasey to feel bad about who he is, particularly when the tattoo he got will be with him for the rest of his life. And yes, I’ve heard the rumors that the tattoo was fake. Don’t believe everything you read, because I can assure you it was as real as can be. Also, just so you all know, we didn’t leave Kasey on the glacier alone. He went back to town with the other camera crew. I actually checked in with my producer later that night to make sure he got home okay. I hope he is happy right now and hopefully in love with a great girl. :)

At the rose ceremony, I was so glad Frank pulled me aside right away. As I explained to Frank, I needed him to make more of an effort. I felt like I had been babying him lately and I needed him to step up and be a man. Nice work Frankie. :) And I must say that Craig‘s fake tattoo was HILARIOUS! Well done, Craig, well done.

Then there is Chris N. I know you all are all wondering who the heck he is. The guys in the house actually called him Phantom because he was always so quiet. Chris N. embraced the name! What you don’t know about Chris N. is that he is a very active philanthropist. On the very first night he told me the he donated skateboarding ramps to less fortunate children in my name. What a great guy. We will miss you, Phantom!

Until Turkey…

Ali - I truly think you should pick Kirk! He seems like an incredible guy, huge heart and definitely not a player. Trust your heart....and just go with it. Definitely, stay away from Justin...not a good selection....very sneaky! Looking forward to next week!

My goodness Ali! What a journey it's been for you. It's cool to know you blog here. I actually met your friend in Campbell months before we saw you on The Bachelor with Jake. I forgot her name but she works or worked at the Old Pro in PA. She was saying she hasn't talked to you in 4 weeks and was in shock, because you were still there, which was cool. Well, it's interesting to hear about that and now see you on the Bachelorette after all that mess. It's a shame these guys don't really seem to fit you and look kinda douchey or like duds. I'm glad Craig is finally opening up, but I definitely see you with Chris L. He's cute, sweet, a family man, funny, and very charming. Not sure why Chris N was there this long but I guess it's always different behind the scenes. Roberto is definitely gorgeous & charming. I see why you've held onto him this long but I think you're mesmerized by his looks more than anything else. It's kinda pointless to say all these things since you already finished the show but I'm pretty blunt and no I'm not like that ugly Vienna. Bleh! Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing Justin getting kicked off the show, even though he's Portuguese and cute, he seems kind of cocky & immature. Good luck to you Ali & I hope to see you around sometime in the bay area!

Ali...this is very first season of Bachelor/Bachelorette I've ever watched and I'm hooked. I must say...CHRIS L!!! I'm looking at all of these people's jobs and they say sales or account executive, or retail or something like that. But Chris L. is stable. Yes, he has is own business now, but he has been a math teacher and could return to that profession if need be. There's something to be said for that. Plus, he gave up his job to go be with his dying mother. Not unlike you giving up your job for love...

Justin did act immature on that episode. Up until now I have not been able to figure out why all the guys disliked him. Seemed so cruel. But after this episode seemed like it was a game to him. A match to win not real. I was very disappointed had been rooting for him. I like Frank and Chris L. Whoever you ended up with Ali, hope it works.

Just read your blog for the first time...it was really nice to hear your words on the experiences you had. I have a few favorites on this show, but I have to tell you I am absolutely in love with Ty (too bad he's 20 years my junior and I'm married!!). I know someone who looks just like him, and has the same mannerisms, too. He is very charming and I truly believe would do anything to be there for the woman he loves. I'm just hope Ali, that you will give him a chance.

Chris L has by far been my favorite since day 1. Not only is he totally handsome but seems to have his s**t together. I can relate to his mom dying cuz my mom died just a few years ago and thats a huge thing to deal with and be open about. Frank...God love him!!! I think he is great as well. Kirk is a good guy too but my gut says he is probably the one with the girlfriend.

ALi,
now that Jake is free..will he show up on your show? He must be feeling pretty down now that Veinna has said the most awful private things about him. He should have never picked her. She was bad news from the start.

ALi,
I do think you and Jake are the right couple. Perhaps you will give him another chance. Remember Jason and Melissa? He found Molly and she found a great husband...so all is well that ends well. I really would love to see you and Jake once again.

ALi,
if I had to pick a husband for you it would be Craig the lawyer. I think that he is a great match for you. Roberto scares me because he just seems too good to be true. There has to be some secret flaws there. The fact that he does not think of himself as good looking is a red flag. Even my son says he knows how good looking he is and attracts a lot of attention. Watch out for Roberto. My best guess is that he is interested in acting.

ALi,
Craig called out Justin in the first episodes. He knew that Justin was a liar, and you feel for it. You let the weather man go..and yet kept Justin? I am thinking that you are maybe way too immature to be making the calls. Seems like you fall for any old line they give you. Wake up and look around. As far as a guy that lost his Mom, it is sad but he seems to talk about this a bit too much. If you were my daughter I would be concerned.

Ali, if you were my daughter I would tell you that you are making your decisions with the wrong criteria. What you call chemistry is the first blush of a relationship. Chemistry is what you have when things aren't always trips to Iceland and Turkey. If you can't see that Frank is telling you what he knows you want to hear, you don't need to be making these decisions for yourself. Craig was the most genuine guy on the show. He was nice to the other guys and he could've out argued any of them if he had wanted to. He seemed to want you to pick him for being himself, not maneuvering for favor. Love is something that builds over time and connection with things in common. You don't necessarily get love without the work of going through difficulties and coming out the other side.

Ask the right questions. Don't ask about things they can schmooze you over; get to the nitty gritty, girl. You are going to come out of this with the wrong guy watching tapes of yourself sending the right guys home. Life with someone isn't about where they live or what they do; it's about who they are and how they would fit into your life and you into theirs.

Ali,
I LOVE the show and everything. You seem very nice, but you need to be careful. Many of these guys dont seem genuine or I think will be different in real life. I think your awesome and I'm not criticizing you at all. Honestly, I think you belong with Kirk! Or maybe Chris L. Sorry, but I dont think Roberto or Ty or especially Frank are right for you. Good luck!
